Based in Charleston, South Carolina, the Warrior Surf Foundation (WSF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that works to provide free surf therapy, wellness coaching, yoga, and community to Veterans struggling with PTSD, anxiety, depression, transition issues, and other mental health issues. Over the past 6 years, Scott has donated his time as a photographer as well as an avid surfer to document the foundations growth. Notably Scott has photographed and documented the foundations annual surf trip to El Paredon, Guatemala. A remote village on the Pacific coast of Guatemala, known for its powerful, barreling beach breaks, this trip is for participants both the opportunity to surf waves of consequence, as well as experience how the lifestyle of surfing and traveling crosses cultural lines. The WSF has partnered with the local NGO ‘La Choza Chula’ which provides education services to the local community in the form of work projects, community outreach, as well as funding. This partnership has endeared the WSF to the village and is a powerful opportunity for veterans to continue their personal healing and growth through continuing service to others.
